Diocese of Arlington

From July 30 to August 3, Father Benedict, Brother Vince, and Brother Stephen participated in the Quo Vadis Camp run by the Diocese of Arlington. The camp was held at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.  Quo Vadisis Latin for “Where are you going?” and is the name given to a camp for young men who are open to the possibility of a vocation to the priesthood or the religious life. It is a time to grow in relationship with Christ and deepen one’s prayer life.

The camp involved intentional time for prayer, daily holy hour, daily celebration of the Mass and times set aside for recreation and sports. The camp provided the opportunity for young men to pray with priests and religious. The talks helped the high school students learn about the priesthood, religious life, and married life. Time was set aside for small group discussions with seminarians and religious brothers about discernment and growing in relationship with the Lord. The camp also had a pilgrimage day when the campers visited the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and entrusted their vocations to the Blessed Mother.

Father Benedict gave a presentation on the Evangelical Counsels and Religious Life and Brother Vince led the campers through a meditation on the scriptures during Eucharistic Adoration. Br. Stephen assisted in small group discussions. Also in attendance were Benedictine Monks from Saint Bernard Abbey in Cullman, Alabama.
